Project Management and Strategy

Drupal sites, budgets from £30k - £130k

2011 & 2014

I worked with the DEC on two major iterations of their Drupal website.

This work invovled a number of roles, from requirements gathering, strategy, writing RfPs, finding agencies and then setting up and running the projects as client-side project manager.

The DEC were replacing their dodgy old site with a new Drupal build. They selected me to operate between themselves and their digital design and build agency. My job was to get good value for money and to advise the DEC's communication manager on digital as this was his first web build.

So what did I do?

Provided day to day liason between the DEC and their Agency SIFT Digital, reported on progress, sorted out issues both ways and generally advised the DEC on what the agency would expect and when, and what 'reasonable scope changes' might mean.

This time the DEC bought me into the project much earlier and I helped them set the whole project up, define the goals of the project, gather requirements and then organised the agency selection process, resulting the recruitment of a new agency (MASS1).

Perhaps most importantly the DEC were beginning a Digital Transormation project and were concerned that the money they were about to spend on their website might not be best value for money. I helped them work through the issues and worked with the communications director to establish an outline plan for the site over the next few years.
